My People - 7/26/2026 - Watch on You Tube
| Hosea 4:1-6 |
There are those you would disregard the Old
Testament, since this prophesy pertains to the Jews and was
before Jesus earthly ministry. The modern saying is that
those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it. 1
Cor. 10:11 places correct emphasis that these are
"ensamples" "...for our admonition". Consider our
country and the world in relation to the words of Hosea. We
live with the same spirit of the age and the same
description of society. Should we not expect the same wrath
of God on the disobedient? |
| 2 Tim. 2:19, Acts 2:21 |
The words are directed to "ye children of
Israel" and "my people". Are not present-day Christians,
those that call on the Name of the Lord, God's people? The
phrase "my people" is used 217 times in scripture. Hosea's
words had prophetic fulfillment in his day, but also
continuing fulfillment today. We do well to take heed. |

Compare Hosea's list with the New Testament
sins of the flesh. The flesh is the same and the lists echo
the characteristics. Paul's list sounds like today's
description of society. Ecclesiastes says there is nothing
new under the sun. While technology has increased, man's
effort to improve himself without Jesus' redemptive blood
will always fail. |

We all have a choice - either listen to Jesus
and the Bible or the thief (Satan). Satan's words appeal to
the flesh; his way is broad and wide, leading to
destruction. Jesus is the Good Shepherd (Psalm 23) and the
only Name by which men can be saved. |
| Rev. 3:15-17 |
Satan is perfectly happy with you being
neutral or undecided. He says: live a mostly good moral life
but when I call with the lusts of the flesh you will follow
me. Jesus says to forsake the flesh, take up your cross, and
follow me. There is no middle ground; there is no place
between heaven and hell. To be lukewarm, is to be
self-satisfied, self-confident, self-moral, and
self-serving. The reaction of the Saviour is not just
spitting, but a more violent spewing. God will deal more
harshly with hypocrites then rank sinners. We need to fear
God. |

If God's people are destroyed for lack of
knowledge, then where does knowledge originate? The book of
Proverbs has the answer. "The fear of the Lord is the
beginning of knowledge." Following the logic - if there is
no knowledge, then there is no fear of the Lord! People fear
a lot of things today - poverty, people, shame, government,
etc.. But where is the fear of the Lord? Where is
understanding His ways and following them? People are wise
in their own eyes, but "fools despise wisdom and
instruction" that comes from God alone. |

Man's knowledge and wisdom has one effect -
"knowledge puffeth up." Man's limited scientific, societal,
or historical knowledge is vastly inferior to the Lord's
infinite understanding. In all matters we need the mind of
Christ. We need His wisdom, direction, and path. Without Him
we can accomplish nothing - except build up our own pride
and ego. |
| Eph. 4:11-16 |
With God-fearing ministers (who seem to be in
short supply today) directing, teaching and living the ways
of the Lord, we are built up into the body of Christ. Jesus'
bride is not weak and diseased, full of self, but anointed
and enabled to do His work as His representatives in this
present age. |

Wisdom and knowledge are freely available -
just as the Bible says. The chilling words "ye refused" are
a condemnation of those that walk in the flesh. No one will
be able to stand in judgment and accuse God of not freely
giving knowledge to those who ask Him. The fact is that we
refuse and become fools on purpose, not by accident. |

Yet, the promise is still there for the
living. What wonderful promises we have available. The only
requirement is to turn at God's reproof. |

Jesus is coming soon! What will you do,
standing before the throne and all the heavenly host? What
will you answer? Job "repent(ed) in dust and ashes." (Job
42:6) Habakkuk waited for God to speak first (Hab.2:1).
Daniel put his face to the ground in the presence of an
angel (Dan. 10:1-9). John fell at His feet as dead in the
presence of the resurrected Christ (Rev. 1:17). These are
holy men of God! What will the ungodly do? What will you do? |

While you are alive you have a choice. "Turn
ye at my reproof." That has been the answer from the
beginning. "Repent ye,: for the kingdom of heaven is at
hand." (Matt 3:1-2) Look at the promise of turning -"I will
pour out..." Now, all the promises are available along with
the knowledge of God. |
| 2 Pet, 1:1-12 |
Knowledge is not a one-time experience; we
are to grow in grace every day. We are to assure ourselves
before Him, giving diligence to make our calling and
election sure. What a promise - "for if ye do these things,
ye shall never fall." |
I've heard people say: "I go to church"; "I was saved"; or "I'm
under grace." Nothing wrong with that, but are you walking daily
by the Savior's side? Are you listening to His voice? Are you
growing in grace and in the knowledge of God? Deception,
self-delusion. and stubbornness are major ways that Satan lies to
people and convinces them that they are OK. We need to get and
stay humble beneath the hand of Almighty God to be counted worthy
to escape all the wrath that God will pour out on a disobedient
world. Seek Him while He may be found. (Isa. 55:6)
