Trust - 10/11/2026 - Watch on You Tube
| Prov. 3:5-10 |
We all want the comfort and security of being
confident in our actions. The only true way to accomplish
this is to trust the Lord. Leaning on our understanding can
lead to wrong paths and serious misunderstandings. We should
start by asking Him for guidance in all things. The
resulting promise is that He will direct our paths from His
perfect point of view. |
| Jud. 4:1-9 |
Here, Barak acted in partial trust and
obedience to the Lord's call to deliver Israel. Instead of
acting on his calling, Barak wanted his hand held. He put
more trust in the prophetess rather than the Lord. While we
have the right to confirm with God His directions in our
life we cannot hold back on what we know to do. Barak knew.
His reluctance to trust and obey cost him personally while
God raised up another path to victory for Israel. How many
people fight the move of God even though they "know" what to
do? Partial or delayed trust can leave you with partial joy
or victory in your heart. Blessings are lost with incomplete
trust. |
| Rev. 21:1-8 |
At the far end of a lack of trust is being
fearful and unbelieving. In that state people are left out
of God's presence - not for a lack of having God's call but
rather not responding. Remember "many are called, but few
are chosen" (Matt, 22:14) |
| 1 Sam. 16:1-5 |
Samuel faced an issue when told by God to
anoint another king after Saul. Samuel knew that Saul would
kill him for obeying the command. So, he lays his concerns
before the Lord. God has a plan to complete Samuel's
mission. We can have legitimate questions when trusting the
Lord. It is our right to ask for confirmation. Sometimes the
reply is specific as here; sometimes a direction to go forth
is to deepen our trust in Him. In following hard after the
Lord we receive the full blessing and favor of God. |
| Job 13:1-17 |
What if God's direction puts your life in
jeopardy? Certainly Christians have always faced this
possibility from the prophets, to Roman times, and even
today. "Yea, all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall
suffer persecution" (2 Tim. 3:12). Job purposed in his heart
to go through - "though He slay me". Jesus came to the same
conclusion. ""Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done"
(Luke 22:42). We trust the Lord for salvation; why not trust
Him for your complete life? |
| Psa. 20 |
People trust in all kinds of things -
finances, military strength, government, etc. All those
things can and will fail. The only place of assurance is in
the One who sits on the throne, His Son who sits at the
right hand of the Father, and the Holy Ghost Who is our
comforter. It is explicitly stated we must seek Him with a
whole heart and not be double-minded (James 1:5-8) |
| Psa. 56:1-4 |
At times, trusting the Lord can be
challenging. David faced this also and had the answer ""What
time I am afraid, I will trust in thee" (verse 3) |
There is a difference between trust and faith. Trust is mainly
referred to in the Old Testament meaning having confidence. The
children of Israel saw His mighty acts and could have trust
(confidence) that He would perform what He said. Faith is mainly
used in the New Testament meaning assent to the truth of another.
"Faith cometh by hearing" (Rom. 10:17). The gentiles did not
see the acts of God that the Israelites did but believed the
preached Word (with miracles following).
Trust relies on God's character; faith embraces His promises.
Trust comes from a relationship; faith comes from understanding.
Put your total trust in Him, and He shall direct your paths. It
is His promise!
Amen. God bless you. -- Pastor
Paul
